Clothesline Therapy

The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely –Louisa May Alcott

I woke up this morning to a warm breeze blowing and abundant sunshine – a perfect day for catching up on laundry.  Some people think I’m crazy, but I love hanging laundry outside to dry. I like to call it clothesline therapy!

As I went about the work of hanging out laundry,  woodpeckers drilled noisily on nearby trees. I was serenaded by a variety of bird songs. The trickling of the creek and the buzzing of bees blended in with the bird songs to create an amazing rhapsody – All part of nature’s perfect prescription for stress relief.

The warm breeze and the springtime scents of mountain air were a much-needed respite from the sadness of the last month. My burdens were lifted, and I sensed God’s presence reassuring me that everything would be okay.

As I watched the laundry blowing in the breeze, I felt a peace wash over me. I thought about how much I miss when I toss a load of clothes in the dryer instead of hanging them outside.  I’m so thankful for clothesline therapy and for the blessings God provides through the simplest and humblest things in life.
